    Description: 
    The stone is carved in relief along the lower edge with two emblems, one depicting a compass and an L-shaped square with a G in the middle, and the other depicting a chain with three links. Above these emblems there is an incised inscription by the proprietors of the Cincinnati Commercial newspaper, J. W. S. Browne and L. G. Curtis.

    Remarks: 
    One of 193 commemorative stones set into the interior walls of the Washington Monument. The stones were donated by states, cities, towns, organizations, individuals, and foreign countries in honor of George Washington. J.W.S. Browne and L.G. Curtis, proprietors of the Cincinnati Commercial newspaper, donated the stone, which is located at the 250 ft. level.
