    Description: 
    The stone is carved with a deeply recessed archway containing a relief image of Baltimore's Battle Monument depicting of a female figure representing the Goddess of Liberty standing atop a column carved to resemble a Roman fasces, which is atop an obelisk-shaped base adorned with a brick pattern and a front door. The foot of the fasces is flanked by two griffins, and the female figure holds an eagle over her right shoulder. On either side of this relief there is an inscription carved in low relief. Above the recessed archway there is an inscription carved in relief, with two draped banners above it.

    Remarks: 
    One of 193 commemorative stones set into the interior walls of the Washington Monument. The stones were donated by states, cities, towns, organizations, individuals, and foreign countries in honor of George Washington. The City of Baltimore, Maryland donated the stone, which is located at the 140 ft. level. The granite was quarried from Amon Lowry's property in Howard County, Maryland.
