Located Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation, Roosevelt Hall, one side of courtyard entrance, Warm Springs, Georgia
Remarks:
The relief is one of two flanking the courtyard entrance to Roosevelt Hall. The
other
relief depicts Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan (see IAS GA000449). The architect for the project, Henry J. Toombs of Atlanta, selected the reliefs because both people battled successfully against great physical odds, showing clearly that busy, useful lives can be lived despite crippled bodies. The inscription on the wall next to the relief is from a famed Roosevelt speech. IAS files contain a brochure from the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation.
