Inscription:  (Proper left side of plinth:) J MASSEY RHIND SCVLPT/1902 NEW YORK signed Description:  David B. Henderson, Congressman and Speaker of the House of Representatives, stands wearing trousers and a knee-length, lapelled coat. He has short hair and moustache, and his proper right hand is raised and holding a gavel, while his proper left arm is supported by a crutch. The statue is mounted upon a short, square, two-tiered base and stands in front of a large dedication plaque for the library which is named after him. David B. Henderson was the first Speaker of the House of Representatives from west of the Mississippi, 1899-1903, and a member of Congress from the Third District, 1883-1903.
