Located University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Emelie B. Schmidlapp Terrace, Mary M. Emory Memorial Hall, front entrance, Cincinnati, Ohio
Remarks:
The fountain was a gift in memory of Clara Baur (1835-1912), founder and head of the old Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, dedicated to her by its students, alumni and faculty. Baur founded the school in 1867, and her leadership and enterprise made it one of the foremost music schools in the United States. The Conservatory later became associated with the University of Cincinnati. The fountain stood for many years on the southwest corner of Oak Street and Burnet Avenue, on the grounds of the old Conservatory. It was later relocated to the front of the new Cincinnati Conservatory of Music building, Mary M. Emory Hall.
