Description:
An abstract sculpture built for children to play on that is composed of homemade
musical
instruments that make sounds. The sculpture consists of two components constructed mostly of unpainted, treated wooden four by fours. One component features three xylophones which seem to radiate out from a central vertical member with PVC pipes of varying lengths located beneath each metal piece. The second component, a tri-level wooden structure, contains seven wooden drums and two sets of PVC palm pipes. Four windpipes may have been removed from the structure. All of the instruments were tuned to an African scale and could produce a five-tone scale at one time.
