Remarks:
The sculpture was sponsored by the City of Tacoma, the Washington State Arts Commission, and the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA). The artist's daughter, five year-old Marti Anderson, served as the model for the child, and Merle Legg was the model for the man. The artist calls the sculpture "a moment of sharing that cuts across time." Frequently, children climb on the male figure. IAS files contain a related article from the Tacoma News Tribune & Sunday Ledger, Sept. 11, 1977, pg. 6-7.
