A young girl with pig tails, wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt, kneels in front of him, holding a leaf in her proper right hand as if showing it to him. The man touches the girl's proper left hand with his proper right hand and touches the leaf with his proper left hand as if explaining something to the young girl. Remarks:
The sculpture was sponsored by the City of Tacoma, the Washington State Arts Commission, and the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA). The artist's daughter, five year-old Marti Anderson, served as the model for the child, and Merle Legg was the model for the man. The artist calls the sculpture "a moment of sharing that cuts across time." Frequently, children climb on the male figure. IAS files contain a related article from the Tacoma News Tribune & Sunday Ledger, Sept. 11, 1977, pg. 6-7.
