Description:
A tall granite obelisk adorned around the top with four wreaths and around the bottom with a band of stars. A relief of the U.S. shield and a
palm
branch adorns the lower front of the obelisk.

Remarks:
The monument honors those from Hanover who died in the Civil War. The total cost for the monument, including the foundation, was $1,664.88. The funds were raised through a three-day fair held in October of 1877.
