Description:
An upright, rectangular block of marble with a female figure, representing Peace, between flanking stone piers. She is in classical dress and is holding a cornucopia in her proper right hand and
olive
leaves in her proper left hand. Both hands rest on the tops of the piers. There is a garland on top of her head as she looks down.

Remarks:
Elihu Burritt was an advocate of world peace in the 19th century. Born in New Britain, CT, he was the vice president of the 1848 Peace Congress in Brussels and introduced cheap overseas postage.
