In 1913, Macon citizens submitted a resolution to the City Council for a fountain to be installed in the Third Street Park at Cherry Street. The fountain was fabricated by Mallary & Taylor Ironworks of Macon. In 1983, the fountain was restored by Robinson Iron Corporation (as part of a $1.5 million Cherry Street improvement project, funded through a federal Urban Development Action Grant) and relocated to its current site at Third & Cherry Streets. A rededication ceremony was held on November 1, 1983 during the Cherry Jubilee, a celebration marking the opening of the new Cherry Street corridor.
