    Description: 
    Figure of a bare chested, male Indian, seated and dressed in a breechcloth and moccasins, with two braids down his back. He chisels a tablet that he holds upright with his proper left arm against his upraised knee. The tablet has a series of concentric circles and a bear claw. The Indian holds the chisel with his proper right hand, the chisel resting on top of his folded knee. The sculpture is set within a planter.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was commissioned to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper by owner Frank Rand. At the time of the 1994 SOS! survey, the sculpture was undergoing restoration. The plaque had reportedly been recently stolen.
