Inscription:  Musee Du Louvre/Reproduction/Ateliers de Moulage Founder's mark appears. Description:  Full-length winged female figure wearing a flowing Grecian gown. The figure, Nike, Goddess of Victory, is headless and armless. O. Box 22939, Denton, Texas 76204 Located Texas Woman's University, Portico on front facade of the Old Main Building, Denton, Texas Remarks:  Gift of the alumnae. This is a replica of the Nike of Samothrace, executed between 300-190 B. C., and discovered on the island of Samothrace in 1863. The original is at the Louvre Museum in Paris. This replaces a Nike donated by the class of 1929 in recognition of Armistice Day. That statue was removed due to weather damage and vandalism.
