Formerly in the collection of Johnson, Alba J., Philadelphia Pennsylvania 1911-1946.
    Remarks:
Originally commissioned by Alba Johnson, president of the Baldwin Locomotive Company of Philadelphia, in 1911. After Johnson's death in 1946, the fountain was sold with his estate to the New Sharon Convent of the Holy Child Jesus in Rosemont, PA. After the convent closed several years later, the sculpture passed through a series of dealers until it was purchased by Miller Nichols from a scrap metal dealer in 1952. IAS files include an excerpt from the book "The Fountains of Kansas City" and related information.
In 2004, Kansas City Adopt A Monument reported that all sculptures owned by the J. C. Nichols company should be changed to Highwoods Property.
