Description:
Monument consists of a tall granite shaft, surmounted by a bronze statue of Bellone, goddess of war. Her proper right arm is raised and holds a sword; her proper left arm is by her side and holds an unidentified object. She stands atop a sphere which rests on cannon pointing out of the four angles of the capital that tops the shaft. The bottom of the shaft is rough-hewn rock. The shaft sits on a die and cap which are set on the granite base. On the front of the cap are the Union and Confederate flags, crossed, the staff of each flag grasped in the claws of an eagle. On one side of the die is a Confederate shield surrounded by a laurel wreath; on the other side is a Union shield. On either side of the die, sitting atop the base, are cannon made of granite. On the front of the die are cannon balls. All four corners of the cap have rampant lions.
