    Provenance:
Purchased from Olsen, Robert, Modesto, California 1976.
    Remarks:
Sculpture is a replica of the "Little Mermaid," by Edvard Eriksen, installed in Copenhagen in 1913 in honor of the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Harfrve began the sculpture in 1971 as a school project, casting the figure in concrete originally. He sold it to the Kimballton Progressive Danes in 1976. The site was purchased with funds donated by citizens and with matching funds from the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, United States Department of the Interior, in the amount of $2,950. IAS files include brochures from the City of Kimballton and a booklet entitled "The Little Mermaid," by Judy Sutcliffe and the Kimballton Progressive Danes.
