Inscription:  C Barker '85 (On plaque on one side of base, raised:) VETERANS/MEMORIAL/SHAWNEE MISSION EAST/Dedicated/November 11, 1985/Given by/The Classes of 1959 & 1960/The PTA and Friends (On plaque on other side of base, raised:) IN REMEMBRANCE...(List of names of former students) signed Description:  Eight tiles of varying dimensions inset in brick frame which forms part of base. Tiles depict a bright yellow sun in a deep blue sky over wheat stalks which appear blown by the wind. On either side are small brick walls, each set at a 45 degree angle, holding bronze plaques. Sculpture is in a patio setting which includes two stone benches.
