Commissioned by Seattle City Light on the occasion of an extensive remodeling project which included a seven-floor addition to the Seattle City Light Building. The cost of the mural was approximately $10,000. It was made by Salviati Glass Company in Venice, Italy, according to the design of the artist, Jean Cory Beall. In Seattle, Northwest Tile Company set the tiles under the supervision of Martin Carlson of Darlington, Haskens & Company. Elmer Oss was one of the tile-setters. Architect Ralf Decker of Decker, Christenson & Kitchin, and engineers associated with the firm of Bindon & Wright designed and supervised the building construction.
