    Description: 
    A uniformed Spanish American War soldier stands wearing a brimmed hat and sleeves rolled to the elbow, carrying his rifle at hip level with both hands. A canteen is strapped to his proper right hip, a knapsack is on his rear, proper left hip, and an artillery belt is around his waist. The soldier is mounted upon a granite boulder with an emblem plaque on the front with a relief scene in the center. Relief depicts a soldier on the left and a sailor on the right, both standing in uniform and carrying a rifle, with a kneeling woman between them. In the background is a battleship. The monument is surrounded by shrubbery, with a walkway and benches before it.

    Remarks: 
    The monument is dedicated to the soldiers and sailors of the Spanish American War, Philippine Insurrection, and the China Relief Expedition. It was erected by Guy V. Henry Camp No. 3 United Spanish War Veterans of Grand Rapids and Kent County. The monument was dedicated at Lookout Park in 1928 and was relocated to Foster Park in 1957.
