BRIGADE/2D DIVISION/2D CORPS/69 REGT./PENNA VOLS./JULY 2.3./1863 (Inscription on die describes the regiment's participation in the Battle of Gettysburg) (On first base:) 69TH PENNSYLVANIA/INFANTRY (Inscriptions on remaining three sides are the history of the regiment, a list of battles in which the 69th Pennsylvania participated and a memoriam inscription to deceased comrades) unsigned Description:  Shaft stands on a polished pedestal and a rough-hewn base. A Coat of Arms for the State of Pennsylvania is affixed to the plinth. Decorative elements include the Corps insignia, Irish lyre and United States flags. The sculpture (referred to as MN 228) indicates the position held by the 69th Pennsylvania during Longstreet's Assault July 3, 1863. It is also near the spot where their commander, Col.
