Description:
Full-length figure of a soldier at parade rest. He wears a Richmond Light Infantry Blues uniform with shako hat and feather plume. In his proper right hand he holds a rifle; the butt of the gun rests on the ground beside his proper right leg. His proper left arm is bent and rests behind his back. The bronze sculpture stands on a oval granite base.

Remarks:
The sculpture was commissioned by the Richmond Light Infantry Blues Memorial Corp. It is a memorial to this National Guard unit founde din 1789. Cost of the sculpture was $75,000. IAS files contain copy of related fund-raising pamphlet.
