Description:
A bas-relief plaque on the top portion of a stele, with a second plaque bearing commemorative text beneath it. The bas-relief depicts a sailing ship at anchor with its sails clewed up, as two ship's boats are landing Captain Cook and his party on the shoreline while being watched by four Hawaiian men. The bay in which the ship is anchored is lined with palm trees, and three Hawaiian canoes are being sailed and paddled beyond the ship.
