    Remarks:
This figure is one of five figures of the Fort Louis/Conde/Charlotte Monument on the south facade of the courthouse. The figures represent the peoples and nations who have occupied the area on which the fort stood. There is an outline of the fort on the wall above the figures; within the outline is the following inscription: FORT LOUIS-DE-LA-MOBILE/1711-1720/FORT CONDE/1720-1763/FORT CHARLOTTE/1763-1823. Below the figures an inscription on the wall reads: UPON THIS VERY SPOT WERE BUILT/THE FORTS WHICH GAVE PROTECTION/TO THAT TINY SETTLEMENT FROM/WHICH OUR CITY NOW HAS GROWN. SOS! files contain transcriptions for two more nearby markers, and copies from a program for the dedication of the monument; the program includes historical information about the fort, the portrait subjects, and the creation of the monument.
