The sculpture was a gift of Urban Concerns, Inc., who commissioned the sculpture. It was a designed for children to play on and is located outside the Children's Room. A contest was held to name the sculpture, and William Alexander submitted the winning name. IAS files contain an excerpt from Fay L. Hendry's "Outdoor Sculpture in Grand Rapids," Okemos, MI: Iota Press, 1990, sec B-4.
