Remarks:
Estimated to cost $123,000, the sculpture was financed by private donations. The three year project began in 1973, with the artist's design proposal receiving approval from the City Council in March of that year. The Pulaski Memorial Committee of Connecticut was headed by then State Motor Vehicles Commissioner Edward J. Kozlowski. Original plans called for the statue to stand at Pulaski Circle, but Department of Transportation plans forced the Committee to search for a new location. The sculpture was dedicated on July 3, 1976, timed with the country's bicentennial. E. D. Thatcher was the architect for the base.
