Inscription:  (Incised on base:) THE LAST METER/SCULPTOR EINO/CELEBRATION OF THE 1996 CENTENNIAL OLYMPIC ATHLETES/GIFTED BY/ASICS POWER BAR signed Description:  Four runners at the finish line of the 5000 meter final from the 1976 Montreal Olympics. The runner on the far right is stumbling. The featured athletes are Lasse Viren (Finland, 1st place), Dick Quax (New Zealand, 2nd place), Klaus-Peter Hildebrand (Germany, 3rd place) and Rod Dixon (New Zealand, 4th place). It was on loan to the City of Atlanta for the duration of the games which were held in that city in 1996. The sculpture was displayed in Piedmont Park. After the games, the first edition was returned to Finland. This second edition was funded by the Power Bar Corporation, Asics Tiger Corporation and the Finnish American Chamber of Commerce of Atlanta. References:  Ely, Karla, 1999.
