Description:
Three full-length figures of children of different races reading. A boy and a girl sit on a stone bench. The boy is reading a book which he holds open on his lap. The girl sits to his proper left. She holds a book on her lap; the book is turned face down. A young boy stands in front of the girl facing her, his hands on the book in her lap.

Remarks:
Victor Dickinson was principal at Emerson Elementary School for 30 years and was a leader in the community. $8,000 of the total cost of $15,000 for the sculpture was raised by the Victor Dickinson Memorial Fund Committee. The sculpture was cast at the artist's son's foundry in Idaho. IAS files contain copies of related articles from Beacon Hill News, Feb. 6 and 27, 1985, and "Seattle Arts", June 1985. IAS files contain copies of related Library Memorandum and Dedication Program.
