Inscription:  A J Smith (copyright symbol) 1985 (On plaque on top of base:) Anthony Jerome Smith - Sculptor/American, Born 1948/Untitled, 1985-86/Bronze/Collection of the City and County of San Francisco/Commissioned by the San Francisco Art Commission for the Recreation and Park Department signed Description:  Abstract sculpture of a sphere held up by a pair of large hands. Set in niches around the surface of the sphere are fourteen life masks of people who live in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. The artist's face and the face of Father Boedekker are also included in the sculpture. The bronze sculpture stands on a low, circular concrete base. The faces on the sculpture are life masks taken from Tenderloin district residents, including the artist and Father Alfred Boedekker, for whom the park is named.
