    Description: 
    Abstract sculpture of a sphere held up by a pair of large hands. Set in niches around the surface of the sphere are fourteen life masks of people who live in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. The artist's face and the face of Father Boedekker are also included in the sculpture. The bronze sculpture stands on a low, circular concrete base.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was commissioned by the San Francisco Art Commission. Cost of the sculpture was $20,000. The sculpture was dedicated on the first anniversary celebration of Boedekker Park. The faces on the sculpture are life masks taken from Tenderloin district residents, including the artist and Father Alfred Boedekker, for whom the park is named. IAS files contain copy of artist's sketch identifying the individual faces. IAS files contain copies of related articles from Friends of the Arts Commission, Summer 1986; Tenderloin Times, April 1986; and San Francisco Chronicle, June 14, 1986. IAS files contain copies of related Arts Commission May 14, 1986 memorandum and related dedication ceremony program.
