Argentine
General Jose de San Martin (1778-1850) liberated Argentina, Chile, and much of Peru from Spanish colonial rule. The bust was dedicated on the bicentennial of Jose de San Martin's birth, and was presented by the country of Argentina. Bust was formerly located in Bayfront Park but was moved when the park was redeveloped. IAS files contain information related to the original placement and to the relocation of the bust, including a news photo and caption from El Miami Herald, Dec. 7, 1978.
