AN ARAB-AMERICAN BORN IN/PALESTINE IN 1944 AND ASSASSINATED IN SANTA/ANA IN 1985, HE SACRIFICED HIS LIFE ON THE/ALTAR OF PEACE AND JUSTICE./TO ALEX ODEH, JEWS, CHRISTIANS, MUSLIMS,/ALL WERE THE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM. Description:
Full-length figure of Alex Odeh is seated on a rock or bench on a round, tapered pedestal and octagonal base. The figure wears a Classical-style robe and a cloak around his shoulders. He holds a small bird with outstretched wings aloft in his proper left hand and a book in his proper right hand, which rests on his proper right knee. His knees are spread and he is barefoot.

Remarks:
The sculpture was probably done in 1994. Alex M. Odeh (1944-1985) was a regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee who died in an explosion at his office in Santa Ana. IAS files contain a related article from the Orange County Register, April 21, 1995.
