IN 1985, HE RECEIVED BOTH THE/ORANGE COUNTY HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION AWARD AND THE/LOS ANGELES COUNTY HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION AWARD.     Description: 
    Full-length figure of Alex Odeh is seated on a rock or bench on a round, tapered pedestal and octagonal base. The figure wears a Classical-style robe and a cloak around his shoulders. He holds a small bird with outstretched wings aloft in his proper left hand and a book in his proper right hand, which rests on his proper right knee. His knees are spread and he is barefoot.

    The sculpture was probably done in 1994. Alex M. Odeh (1944-1985) was a regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee who died in an explosion at his office in Santa Ana. IAS files contain a related article from the Orange County Register, April 21, 1995.
