Savings Bank of Mendocino County, 10500 Lansing Street, P. O. Box 687, Mendocino, California 95460
Provenance:
Formerly located Medocino
Masonic
Temple, 10500 Lansing Street, Mendocino, California 1873-1977.
Remarks:
The sculpture was carved by Albertson, a founding member of the Mendocino
Masonic
Temple, who also did most of the construction for the temple building. SOS! survey cites execution date of 1893; other materials included with survey cite execution date of 1866-1873. Savings Bank of Menocino County purchased the Mendocino
Masonic
Lodge building and sculpture in 1977. In 1993 restoration work was done on the sculpture; the Maiden's arm was bolted into place after having fallen off three years earlier, and the base of the sculpture was repaired and straightened. IAS files contain copies of related pamphlets from Savings Bank of Mendocino and Mendocino Lodge No. 179 Free & Accepted Masons. IAS files contain copy of related article from The Press Democrat (Santa Rosa, CA), Dec. 21, 1993.
