    Remarks:
Sculpture is a near-replica of the Augustus of Primaporta executed ca. 20 B. C. located at the Vatican Museum. Augustus, the great-nephew and adopted son of Julius Caesar lived from 63 B. C. to 14 A. D. and was Emperor of Rome from 31 B. C. until his death. IAS files include information from a press packet from Caesars Palace and a citation to the book "Gardner's Art through the Ages," (New York: Harcourt, Brace, Jovanovich, 1991, pg. 230) which contains photographs of the original sculpture.
