    A rough-hewn figure of a old smiling Mexican woman carrying a basket of fruit on her head, her hands raised to steady the basket. She wears Mexican peasant clothes which include a jacket and a long skirt. The sculpture is carved from a log.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was executed in Mexico. IAS files contain a copy of the Fallingwater cataloging sheet for the sculpture. The cataloging sheet details a Sept. 1987-June 1988 conservation treatment which involved: removing all nails, bolts, and metal bands from the base; disengaging the broken base and platform from the body of the sculpture; brushing and vacuuming accumulated dirt; consolidating rotted wood with applications of 30 percent Acryloid B-72 in toluene; and coats of polyurethane.
