    Description: 
    A portrait of Alexander Agassiz, depicted as a balding, mature man, sitting in a chair wearing an academic robe. He crosses his proper left leg and holds the arm of the chair with his proper right hand while resting his proper left hand in his lap. The sculpture is mounted upon a low, stepped base.
