    Description: 
    A bust of a female, perhaps an Indian, with long flowing hair and a wreath of flowers atop her head. On top of the flowers are three birds - an owl, a hawk or eagle, and possibly a quail. The sculpture is carved from a tree trunk and surrounded at its base by flowering plants.

    SOS! survey and nearby plaque list date of sculpture as 1947, but a related ArtMap brochure from the Bellevue Arts Commission, contained in the IAS files, lists the date of the sculpture as 1948. A plaque east of sculpture reads: "FOREST DEITY"/A SCULPTURE BY DUDLEY C. CARTER,/COMPLETED IN 1947 AND PURCHASED BY/THE BANK OF BELLEVUE/A NORTHWEST LEGEND AND BELLEVUE/REDMOND RESIDENT,/DUDLEY CARTER BEGAN WOOD CARVING IN 1930 AT THE/AGE OF 39 AND HAS CONTINUED FOR OVER 50 YEARS./HIS WORK IS ON DISPLAY IN MUSEUMS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
