    Description:
Interior scene with seven senators in a congressional chamber during a recess. The scene is painted in bright, navy blue and green with accents of red, and a green blue background. The background and some of the faces are painted in almost fluorescent colors. The central figure is a junior senator who is wearing a navy blue suit and standing with is right hand in his pants pocket, gesticulating with his left hand as he speaks. There are two senators in the foreground left sitting in chairs and listening intently to what he has to say. The senator on the far left wears a brown suit, has a bold head, and is holding his glasses on his face with his raised left hand. His face is painted green. The senator on the right has white hair, wears a black suit with a blue shirt, and his face is also painted green. There are two figures in the next row on the left, one standing and one sitting. The standing figure is dressed in a burgundy suit and a blue shirt. The figure resembles J. Edgar Hoover, the FBI Director. (This may be a reference to J. Edgar Hoover's testimony before the House Committee on Un-American Activities in 1947.) He is leaning over and conferring with a seated senator who is partially obscured by the tow senators in the front row. On the lower right there is a lone senator sitting in a chair and observing the scene. In the background there is a senator approaching the group. He is wearing a dark red suit and his face is painted navy blue. There is a red chair on the left and red carpeting across the floor.
