Remarks:
This painting depicting the Five Points intersection in New York City is based on print published in Valentine's Manual in 1855. The artist created the painting for R. Simpson & Co., Inc., a famous pawnshop on 42nd Street in New York City. The painting remained in the Simpson family, and in the late 1990s, the owner of Art Union Gallery purchased the painting from a Simpson descendant.
