    Description: 
    A tapir is standing viewable from the front in perfect profile. Its proper left front leg is bent up and its remaining three legs are secured to a small base. The tapir's head is pointing with the snout up and the mouth slightly open. The curve from the tip of the snout to the tail is a graceful S curve. The ears extend outward at 45 degree angles from the head.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was a gift from Lee Brooks Thornton, a pioneer supporter of the Reid Park Zoo. It is part of the Bronzes for the Blind, a project developed by the zoo to offer the blind tactile images of the zoo animals. Each sculpture is placed at hand-level where it can be touched. The project is an ongoing collaboration between the zoo and the artist.
