Description:
A free-standing sculpture with relief on both sides. The relief depicts elements from the community and surrounding area. On the east side are four running horse in profile, cacti, a lizard, wagon wheel, an adobe structure and palm tree. The east side also has a bench with inset, hand-made tiles. The west side has three head of cattle, a palm tree, cowboy hat, local brands, a
scorpion
, rattlesnake, cholla cactus and Native-American rock symbols. Hand-made tiles continue on this side representing water.

Remarks:
The estimated cost of the sculpture was $19,600. Funding was received from a grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts and town of Gila Bend. Sellers and Sons donated the foundation. The tiles were hand-made by local residents with help from the artist. IAS files contain article from the Sun (Gila Bend, AZ), Nov. 29, 1990; a copy of the artist's project description, and dedication program. Gila Bend Public Park may also be known as the Community Center Park or the Gila Bend Community Park.
