Remarks:
The fountain was erected by the Governor's Mansion Foundation at a cost of $169,000 which was privately funded. Victorian design was chosen to blend with the Governor's Mansion. Landscape design was by Jay Graham, Pearse O'Doherty, and Tish Tyson, all of Graham Landscape Architecture of Annapolis, Maryland. The fountain was cast by David A. Beard of Historical Arts & Casting. IAS files contain a dedication program; an information sheet from Graham Landscape Architecture of Annapolis, entitled "Design Background to the Governor's Mansion Fountain"; and newspaper articles from The Washington Post: April 3, 1990, pg. E1, E2; April 7, 1990, pg. 1, B1, B4 (with discussion of the dedication); The Capital (Annapolis, Maryland), April 7, 1990 (with discussion of the dedication); and The Baltimore Sun, Nov. 25, 1993.
