Two of the bands have no markings, the Texas lone star is repeated around the second largest band, and the widest band depicts scenes from the state's pioneer era. The interior surface of the widest band is inscribed with a garland of single stars. Two longhorns mark the summit of the sculpture. A group of children, perhaps representing the youth who will mold the state's future, stand at the base of the astrolobe."
