    Description: 
    The stone is carved in relief with an emblem depicting two figures flanking a shield, one a farmer wearing boots and holding a shovel (left), the other a fisherman wearing hip boots and holding a fish. The shield is carved with the Maryland coat of arms. Beneath the emblem there is a banner incised with CRESCIT ET MULTIPLICAMMI. An inscription carved in relief surrounds the emblem.

    Remarks: 
    One of 193 commemorative stones set into the interior walls of the Washington Monument. The stones were donated by states, cities, towns, organizations, individuals, and foreign countries in honor of George Washington. The State of Maryland donated the stone, which is located at the 80 ft. level.
