    Description: 
    The stone is carved in relief with a letters spelling out COLORADO in a recessed rectangular block that is slightly curved across the top. Below is the state seal of Colorado flanked by an incised date of 1876. The state seal is carved in low relief with an image of a shield adorned with snow-covered mountains in the center, stripes at the top, and stars with miner's tool below. A banner inscribed with NIL SINE NUMINE appears below the shield. Above the shield there is an eye with rays of sun emanating from it, and a fasces with a two-headed axe below it.

    Remarks: 
    One of 193 commemorative stones set into the interior walls of the Washington Monument. The stones were donated by states, cities, towns, organizations, individuals, and foreign countries in honor of George Washington. The State of Colorado donated the stone, which is located at the 290 ft. level. Architect Frank Edbrooke designed for the stone.
