    Description: 
    Three large-scale glazed terra cotta relief panels set in a niche on the side of a building. At the top of the panel on the left is a full-length nude male figure with angel's wings and curled antennae. Below him, near the bottom of the panel, is a female figure. She sits half crouching, half kneeling on her proper left knee; her arms are raised above her head, her hands near her head. A robe drapes around her waist and proper left leg.
    The center panel has three figures. In the center is a male figure, seated on a throne, facing forward. In his hands he holds a book which stands on end. He wears a laurel crown and sandals. To his proper right is a full-length male, resting his proper left arm on the back of the throne. He wears a cloth draped down from his chest. To the proper left of the throne is a full-length nude female shown in profile.
    At the top of the panel on the right, sitting in an oval niche, is a full-length nude female figure. She faces forward, her legs crossed. At the bottom of the panel, sitting in a round niche, is a nude male figure. He holds his proper left knee in front of him with both arms; his proper right knee is bent and to the side.

    Formerly located Oakland Auditorium, 10 Tenth Street, Oakland, California 1915-1982.
    Remarks: 
    One of a series of seven niches entitled "Riches of the Earth" along the north wall of the Oakland Auditorium. The Auditorium was renamed the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center in the 1980's. Terra cotta for the niches was supplied by N. Clark & Son. Donovan was architect for the building and Hornbostel was consulting architect. Donovan was later replaced as supervising architect by Mathews. Couchot was engineer for the building project. Dates given are construction dates for the building. Final cost of the building including sculpture was $978,052. IAS files contain copy of related State of California Historic Resources Inventory and copy of related article from Oakland Tribune, Jan. 29, 1961.
