    Description: 
    A column-like fountain with a small water basin at the top. Around the bottom of the fountain is an octopus. A fish swim nears the top through blades of sea grass. On top, on the basin, is bird about to take flight. The fountain is surrounded by a circular basin-like foundation through which water drains.

    Represents the moment in black history when blacks had their shackles removed and began a life of freedom. Commissioned and donated by Judge and Mrs. H. Sol Clark. Jan Vandenbulk is the landscape architect for the garden where the sculpture is located. IAS files contain a related article from the Savannah News Press, July 30, 1990.
