Located Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Florida
    Provenance:
    Gift of Good, Kenneth,
    Remarks:
Originally commissioned by developer Kenneth Good, circa 1983, for his private home for $300,000. Good donated the sculpture to the City of Tampa in 1988. Fountain is a smaller replica of a fountain by the same artist in Dizengoff Square, Tel Aviv, and is reportedly the only one of its kind in the United States. Inspired by his Jewish faith, the artist named the piece "Shamayin," a combination of the Hebrew words for "fire" and "water" meaning "Heaven." In 1993, the fountain was reportedly in poor working order. The City replaced a faulty ball-bearing and purchased a sound system to replace the control board. IAS files include related articles from the Tampa Tribune, the St. Petersburg Times and the journal Creative Loafing (Florida). IAS files also include press releases, two City resolutions, the dedication schedule and a piece from Tampa Bay Life, Jan. 1990.
