    Provenance:
Formerly located Evening Post Building, 20 Vesey Street, 9th Floor, New York, New York 10007
    Remarks:
The building, built in 1906, was formerly known as the Evening Post Building. It was designated a New York City landmark on Nov. 23, 1965. Two of the figures were created by Borglum and two were created by Estelle Rumbold Kohn, wife of the building's architect. Inscription on plaque now missing from the building read: "HERITAGE OF NEW YORK"/EVENING POST BUILDING/DESIGNED BY ROBERT D. KOHN, AND OCCUPIED BY THE NEW YORK EVENING POST FROM 1907 TO 1926. THIS BUILDING IS ONE OF NEW YORK'S RARE EXAMPLES OF "ART NOUVEAU." THE BRONZE-FINISHED, CAST-IRON WINDOW SPANDRELS ARE ORNAMENTED WITH THE MARKS OF FAMOUS PRINTERS OF THE 16TH AND 17TH CENTURIES. THE STATUES ON THE 9TH FLOOR, EXECUTED BY GUTZON BORGLUM AND ESTELLE RUMBOLD KOHN, REPRESENT "FOUR PERIODS OF PUBLICITY."/PLAQUE ERECTED 1966 BY/THE NEW YORK COMMUNITY TRUST.

Related information can also be found in Architectural Record (Sept. 1907): pg. 176 and in Architectural Review (Sept. 1908) Architectural Review article includes scale drawings of the building which SOS! volunteer used to estimate the dimensions of the sculptures.
