Description:
A standing figure of a soldier, dressed in an Army hiking uniform of the Spanish-American War, holds a rifle horizontally in front of him with both hands. He wears a broad-brimmed hat, a shirt with the sleeves rolled up, pants that are tucked into his boots, an ammunition belt around his waist, and a square sack strapped over his proper left shoulder. The sculpture rests on a low granite base and a small flight of granite stairs leads to the memorial.

. The inscription on a plaque set in the ground in front of the sculpture reads: IN HONOR/OF THE MEN OF
