    Description: 
    A standing bronze figure of a Civil War soldier dressed in an overcoat, his proper right hand resting on the muzzle of a gun that he holds vertically by his proper right side. The sculpture rests atop a tall square base adorned with bronze inscription plaques on all four sides. A low rail fence surrounds the sculpture.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial commemorates the men of Woburn who served in the Civil War. The town appropriated $10,000 for the memorial with $6,000 going to the sculptor. The figure was cast by Ames Manufacturing Company and the base plaques were cast by William Blake and Company. IAS files contain a list of the names appearing on the base plaques. IAS files also conatin a copy of the Massachusetts Historical Commission Form C - Monuments questionnaire dated Nov. 3, 1973; a newspaper article from the Woburn Daily Times, July 7, 1973; and a transcription of a newspaper article from the Middlesex County Journal, Oct. 14, 1969.
