(On proper right side:) A. Archipenko 1/6 signed Founder's mark appears.
Description:
Large semi-abstract bronze sculpture of King Solomon. Proper right arm is crossed over torso, proper left arm is truncated and extends forward and upward. Proper right knee is bent and opposite "shoulder" slightly raised. Appears to have one large eye or hole in "face" and two "ears" or "horns" pointing skyward. Surface in front is completely smooth, and rear is uneven except for sanded or finished back and backs of "arms" and "ears."

Inscription on nearby plaque reads: "KING SOLOMON"/1963/ALEXANDER ARCHIPENKO/(1887-1964)/ON LOAN FROM/MR. AND MRS. JEFFREY H. LORIA. Sculpture was posthumously cast under the supervision of the artist's widow. Piece has been on extended loan from Mr. and Mrs. Loria since 1985. Cast no. 1/6.
