Portrait of the artist's wife Juliane Leutze (1824-1898) and their first child Ida Maria Leutze (married name Wheeler) (1846-1908). The painting is listed in the catalog for the sale of paintings belonging to the late Mr. A. M. Cozzens sold by auction at the Clinton Hall Art Galleries and Book Sale Rooms on Friday May 22, 1868 (no. 72).
